Session 16

A short while later finds Max and Sam entering the hospital cafeteria, where Anna is having breakfast. Esme, Jack, and Tim are off on their own errands.
Sam Spade: "Anna!"
Sam Spade: "Are you okay?"
Sam Spade has one arm in a sling.
Anna Tommize slowly turns her head and blinks a few times at Sam.
Anna Tommize: "…Ah…ah gawd is that a sling…?"
Anna Tommize rubs her eyes.
Anna Tommize: "…Aaah what happen?!"
Anna Tommize starts blinking in a manner and twitching her face in such a way to check that all her individual muscle groups are moving at her command.
Sam Spade: "Well, long story short - we found Team Derp."
Sam Spade: "They lost the fight. Technically."
Max Thorn: "Still not entirely sure, myself. That bloody togetic rang our bells but good."
Anna Tommize: "Ohgeezohgeez, uh…"
Max Thorn: "They had a factory-airship. Their pichu ran into it and it got airborne a while after that. Then we jumped onto it via ramps and go-karts going real fast."
Anna Tommize looks around the cafeteria for a tool.
Anna Tommize: "First aid…"
Anna Tommize seems oblivious to the fact that she is in a hospital cafeteria.
Max Thorn: "We've already been treated, Anna."
[OOC] Sam Spade: Unless Anna can remove injuries it doesn't matter.
Sam Spade: "Yeah."
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Ah, K. I don't think she can.
Anna Tommize: "Ah'm sorry…I-if Meeps and I were there…"
Anna Tommize looks genuinely distraught that her friends were hurt.
Sam Spade: "Hey, it's okay!"
Sam Spade: "You were out of it."
Sam Spade: "Besides, I'm just glad you didn't get hurt."
Sam Spade: "And none of us died."
Max Thorn: "Some of us got closer than others."
Antheia is very much not in evidence during this conversation. It's not clear whether she's in her ball or elsewhere in the hospital, but Max doesn't seem worried.
Malta is sitting on one leg on Sam's shoulder, resting the other leg.
The smell of yogurt, berry compote, and pancakes wafts to the noses of the as-yet-unfed Sam and Max. Apparently, the food here is free - so long as you have business in the hospital.
Sam Spade: "That smells good."
Sam Spade: "Is it?"
Anna Tommize: "Isss…it smells better than it tastes."
Sam Spade: "….Um."
Sam Spade: "Well, that's…"
Anna Tommize pokes at her pancake a bit.
Sam Spade: "….frustrating."
Anna Tommize: "Yah."
Sam Spade: "Still, I'm rather hungry this morning."
Sam Spade: "Max, care for some food?"
Anna Tommize: "They're not bad…just plain…"
Sam Spade: "Pity."
Indeed, the hospital food proves to be hospital food.
[OOC] Sam Spade: "But with butter on the embargo list…"
Almost as if to encourage freeloaders to go elsewhere.
Max Thorn: "It's hospital food. Of course it's bland. If it's good for you, it almost never has any real flavor to it."
Max Thorn: "Unless that flavor is 'ick'."
Max Thorn sticks to the yogurt, at least for now. Even if it /is/ low-fat.
Sam Spade takes a pancake and rolls it around the berry compote.
The food does at least calm down the hunger.
Off in a corner, a couple nurses are enjoying their breakfast, making faces as if the food was far more tastier than the group finds it. Sam is uncertain if those smiles are strained.
Sam Spade: "Well, it's something."
Sam Spade: "Do you think there's some place around here we can stretch our Pokemon's wings out? Malta's a bit restive."
Sam Spade: "…And when she's bored my ear starts looking tasty and I'd like to avoid that."
Anna Tommize: "U-uh…"
Anna Tommize: "I think I s-saw a meditation garden…"
A TV is showing news stories about the previous day's events. The crashed front portion of the airship is mostly cleaned up, though volunteer trainers are still working at it. One of them almost looks like Esme, but then the TV cuts to another shot.
Anna Tommize looks at the TV, then Sam, then the TV again.
Anna Tommize: "W-what happened…?"
Sam Spade: "Well, like Max said, we found Team Derp, and one of their pokemon decided it would be a great idea to blow up the airship's control room."
Sam Spade: "We survived. The airship's structural integrity did not."
Anna Tommize looks at Sam with a tilted head.
Anna Tommize: "S-shame…"
Anna Tommize: "It would have been nice to have an airship…"
Anna Tommize looks up at the ceiling wistfully.
An ad for the Foundry Town Art Museum flashes on the TV. From the map shown, it seems to be just across the street from the hospital.
Sam Spade: "Huh. Foundry Town has an Art Museum?"
Max Thorn: "We've got one flying pokemon, and we can get more. I think flying on the back of, like, a talonflame would be way cooler than flying on an airship any day."
Sam Spade: "Malta, what do you think?"
Malta ducks her head and chirps excitedly.
Anna Tommize: "Oooh…"
Anna Tommize: "T-the doctors say I'm good to be released…"
Anna Tommize: "Psychic sensitivity overload" they said…but ah'm not a pysker… "
Sam Spade: "Well, something knocked you out."
Sam Spade: "That may just have been their closest guess."
[OOC] WC GM: Heading outside, then?
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Yes.
Anna Tommize: "M-mah head still hurts a bit, tho…"
Sam Spade looks around the streets.
Anna Tommize scratches one of her Mears.
Sam Spade: "…Are you sure we should leave, then?"
The moment the party steps outside - Foundry Town looks a lot different by day, when not on lockdown. Bustling traffic, purposeful movements, even the overhead bridges and pipes between factory blocks appear to be in use, judging by the lights, vibrations, and rare glass-topped ones you can see things moving through.
[OOC] WC GM: Foundry Town's theme when it's NOT under attack:
[OOC] WC GM: The good and the bad side of it.
It is like being inside of the most complex machine any of the three have ever witnessed, only one incorporating - as well as being guided by - people and pokemon.
Anna Tommize: "Mm…"
Sam Spade: "….Huh."
Anna Tommize relaxes.
Anna Tommize: "Good wavs…"
Sam Spade: "Okay, then."
Sam Spade: "I guess the headache was from the hospital?"
Getting across the street to the museum is not much of a challenge; it just takes moving to the city's beat.
Anna Tommize wiggles a bit in place.
Max Thorn: "Well, hospitals *do* tend to be full of the extremely ill… Not surprised you were picking up on it."
Anna Tommize follows along behind Sam. Meeps casts suspicious glances, but follows next to Anna.
Malta hops and spins, keeping a suspicious eye on Meeps.
Even though the museum's doors are right across the street from the hospital's, jaywalking would be difficult, but crossing at the crosswalk is easy enough once it lights up. Half a block up, cross, half a block back down, and the party is finally at the museum entrance.
Anna Tommize: "Wooah…big doors…"
In no other town have Sam, Max, or Anna seen such bustling activity on the streets; even in Metro Beach, jaywalking was merely a matter of listening in case there was oncoming traffic.
The museum itself is about what one would expect: metal - primarily steel - everywhere, mostly sculptures although there are some "paintings" - etchings in large plates of metal, with color from different types of metal plated or welded in - hung on the walls.
[OOC] Max Thorn: What? No intaglio prints?
There is more than enough space for Malta to fly around. Hung from the ceiling is the skeleton of an early aircraft.
Malta decides to see what it looks like from up close!
[OOC] WC GM: There are some, but that takes ink; most of the art is pure metal.
Anna Tommize wanders along, taking care to touch each exhibit that allows it.
Anna Tommize: "P-pretty…"
[OOC] Max Thorn: Well, yes, but printmaking is kinda the whole point of etching-it's almost entirely invisible to the naked eye otherwise.
Many of the sculptures do allow touch, so long as one's hands are not too greasy or acidic. There's a station with disposable gloves so that even a Muk could experience this without fouling up the sculptures.
[OOC] WC GM: Almost, yes. This museum is a feast for the fingers as well as the eyes. There are even sonic displays, in a mostly-walled-off area so as not to distract visitors to the other areas.
[OOC] WC GM: In fact…
Anna Tommize eyes the sonic door with big, excited eyes. She seems to be…buzzing?
One sign points to a display of metal scents - small but detectable traces of metal powders and smeltings kept warm. That room is very well ventilated.
Sam Spade: "Anna?"
Anna Tommize: "Y-yeh?"
Max Thorn elects to take his time, studying each piece intently as he comes across it.
Anna Tommize touches the door and…is she biting her lip?
Anna Tommize: "Ehehehehe…."
Behind the door, the sonic room proves to be made of pure metal crystals of various types, shapes, and sizes. It seems impossible to walk in the room without making some sort of sound, though the floor is muted; the louder sounds are made from crystals projected about a meter up, for people to tap and ring.
Anna Tommize: "Cannnnn weee goeeee i-in thiiiis onnnnne?"
It is like a metal orchestra playground.
Anna Tommize finds the eliptical dishes and stands between them with a look of bliss on her face.
Sam Spade: "Um."
Sam Spade: "That's…"
Anna Tommize: "Mmm…"
Sam Spade: "Okay?"
Anna Tommize: "Can't you hear it?"
Sam Spade: "Yeah, but…"
Sam Spade: "…not much…else!"
Anna Tommize: "Ehehehehe…"
Anna Tommize stretches a bit and steps out of their path to address Sam.
Anna Tommize: "S-sorry…"
Max finds exhibits on the history of metalworking, with examples of art and tools from the most primitive sand casting up through…the modern era is represented by pictures from the Steelworks Gym.
Sam Spade: "No, no! Have fun!"
Sam Spade blinks
Anna Tommize: "S'just…"
Sam Spade: "I'm a little out of my element, but~"
Anna Tommize: "This room is…delicious."
Sam Spade: "That's good."
Anna Tommize: "It's almost like…"
Anna Tommize struggles to find words.
Anna Tommize: "It's sort of wa…"
Anna Tommize: "Y-you can't feel them, umm…"
Anna Tommize looks down.
Sam Spade looks at Anna with a slightly confused, but mostly encouraging smile on her face.
Sam Spade: "Not really, no."
Anna Tommize frowns.
Sam Spade: "But that's fine."
Sam Spade: "It means we make up for each others' weaknesses."
Anna Tommize: "It's like getting an electric massager allll ovvvver…."
An elderly lady with a "DOCENT" badge wanders by. "Oh? What have we here?"
Anna Tommize blinks at the Docent.
Anna Tommize: "O-oh…hallo Ma'am."
The docent looks at Anna from the door. "I haven't seen someone get this wrapped up in the room in…"
Anna Tommize blinks at her.
Anna Tommize: "S-sorry, it just kinda feels…"
Anna Tommize blushes a bit.
Docent: "Hmm. Hmmmm." She squints her eyes. "You almost look like…"
Anna Tommize: "Really good…."
The docent adjusts her glasses. "By any chance, you wouldn't happen to be related to the Tommizes, would you?"
Anna Tommize goes pale white.
Anna Tommize: "Uuuuhhh…."
Anna Tommize: "W-what makes you azzzzk thaaaat…"
Meeps steps out in front of Anna protectively.
Anna Tommize awkwardly avoids the Docent's gaze.
Sam Spade: "I've always wondered that myself. It is a small world, isn't it?"
Docent: "'Cause this was donated to us about 50 years ago by one o' them."
Anna Tommize: "O-oooh…"
Anna Tommize: "U-uh…Ah'm…Anna Tommize…"
Docent: "Oh! Ohoho…theeen, this'd be your gramma's work."
Anna Tommize looks a bit sheepish.
Anna Tommize: "Grandma…?"
Docent: "Said it relaxed 'er. I guess it runs in the family."
Anna Tommize: "W-well, ah'm a bit weird in mah family…"
Anna Tommize: "A-ah never really knew my gramma, and D-dad doesn't really talked about 'er…"
Docent: "Darn shame what happened to her. Hmm…you don't seem old enough; I'm guessing you never met her?"
Anna Tommize: "N-nooo…"
Anna Tommize: "Ah just heard she was…"
Anna Tommize lowers her voice.
Anna Tommize: "…crazy…"
Docent: "Hah! Don' go believin' every darn thing you hear, young lady."
Docent: "Otherwise you'll wind up thinkin' clefaries live on the moon!"
Anna Tommize: "D-don't they…?"
Docent: "(Nevermind that they found that colony up there.)"
Anna Tommize: "Their moonbase was established during the last Deoxys incident…"
Docent: "Yeh, well, bad example."
Anna Tommize blinks.
Docent: "I knew yer gramma. 'Crazy' isn't the word I'd use for her."
Anna Tommize: "Like the myth about those tall-necked Exeggutors, then…?"
Anna Tommize: "Dragon type coconuts…pfft ehehehe…"
The now-familiar beep of Esme tapping into her dex can be heard as she enters the quartz room. "There you all are!"
Anna Tommize: "Ah! E-esme!"
Docent: "Ah, friend of yours? I'll leave ya to yer reunion." The docent wanders off.
Anna Tommize: "Grandma…huh…"
Anna Tommize: "Hey Esme! Can y'feel the wavs in here…?"
Max Thorn 's nowhere near the sound chambers. In fact, he's still (very slowly) working through the regular ol' visual art exhibits.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: So, Anna needs to take Musician now, huh~?
Esme tilts her head. "Ah… That is not exactly my strength, you know. The crystals do have their own properties and I can note some of those, though." Her clothes seem slightly singed.
Pokedex: "Onix. Opening its large mouth, it ingests massive amounts of soil and creates long tunnels."
Anna Tommize: "S-stand there!"
Anna Tommize: "…Huh?"
Up in the rafters, a glint of serpentine crystal winds on by.
Anna Tommize: "Woooh…."
…that is one of the smallest onixes anyone present has ever seen. Barely 3 meters, front to back.
Anna Tommize: "Ooooh my god it's soooo cute…"
Esme: "So tiny!"
Anna Tommize steps after it absent-mindedly.
Esme's pokedex shows the indicator for a trainer-owned pokemon. Presumably, this onix belongs to someone working at the museum.
Anna Tommize: "A-anyways! Esme! How are ya?"
Anna Tommize: "D-do we need t'find those joltik n-now…?"
Esme: "I should be the one asking you!"
Anna Tommize: "A-ah…the doctors said, uh…"
Anna Tommize: "P-psychic sensitivity overload…but, ah'm not…"
Anna Tommize: "A-and then the hospital gave me a headache…"
Esme: "Mmmhm. Well you seem fine now, so that's good."
Anna Tommize: "Yeah! This room sort of…"
Anna Tommize: "I-it put me in a good mood, ehehe…S-stand between the dishes come on!"
Anna Tommize pulls Esme into a seemingly nondescript part of the room and then shudders.
Esme blinks.
Anna Tommize: "Can y-yoooou feeeel it….?"
Anna Tommize looks at Esme, trying to judge her reaction.
Esme taps on a nearby crystal. "Some of the vibration when close enough. But mostly I just… hear it?"
Esme examines! What's this one made out of?
Anna Tommize steps out of the line of the dishes and taps the crystal.
Anna Tommize: "A-ah dunnooo…"
Sam Spade: "Looks neat, though."
Anna Tommize: "Yeh!"
Anna Tommize suppresses her urge to lick the strange crystal.
Meeps prods Anna away from the crystal.
Anna Tommize: "H-huh? Aaah, o-ok…"
The one Esme inspects seems to be pure copper crystal, with a coat of green oxidation.
Esme: "Quite neat. Where'd everyone else run off to?"
Anna Tommize: "Ah'm not sure…Sam was here…"
Anna Tommize: "A-anyways, we were talkin' about f-finding those Joltik…"
Max finds himself walking into an array of metal and colored glass, where the colors shift wildly through the rainbow with each step.
Sam Spade: "Tim and Jack had things to do."
Esme: "Unsurprising. Jack's at home, and Tim…well, it's Tim, oui."
[OOC] Max Thorn: "Gaaaaaay!" :V
Max Thorn examines this particular display from all angles…
[OOC] WC GM: It's an art museum. Such things are to be expected.
Sam Spade: "Max is around somewhere."
Anna Tommize: "Hmmm…"
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Shall we go? I'd like to get plot moving.
The label at the entrance to the display says that even infrared and ultraviolet shift, and offers sheets of film so that human visitors can see them.
[OOC] WC GM: Can move along if you want.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: I'd like that. The Museum is fun, but I want plotttt
Max sees the light shift almost of its own, forming a small huma-oh, wait, that's just Tim walking up. "HERE you are. Where's everyone else?"
Max Thorn: "I think Jack had a relapse or something? Anna, Sam, and Esme found the sound room and have been there a while."
Tim: "Nah, Jack's roaming around. He'll catch up to us once we go."
Anna Tommize leaves the sound room with a drunk look on her face.
Anna Tommize: "Oooh…Tim!"
Tim: "Let's get going before it gets too late."
Anna Tommize: "Timmm…Timmy…."
Anna Tommize: "Hallo~"
Tim slowly turns around…
Anna Tommize giggles.
Tim relaxes. "Phew, it's just you."
Tim: "For a moment I thought…well…nevermind."
Anna Tommize: "I-is somethin wrong?"
Anna Tommize: "Who'd y-think I was?"
Tim shakes his head. "Someone who isn't here. Anyway, if you're done let's get out to Route 3!"
Anna Tommize: "OooK~"
Sam Spade: "I guess it's time, then!"
Anna Tommize falls in line.
Sam Spade: "So."
Sam Spade: "No pending crises aside from the fact that we broke one of Mrs. Tomize's toys."
It does not take long to get to…this…is unlike any route Sam, Max, or Esme have ever seen before. This is one giant wiring duct, near-thrumming with power carried beneath the surface, easily wide enough for multiple lanes of vehicular traffic let alone walking, though no vehicles show themselves this day once the group leaves town.
Anna Tommize: "D-did we catch those joltik…?"
Anna Tommize: "Are you allowed to leave yet?"
Tim: "Oh, lots of pending crises." Tim smiles.
Anna Tommize looks at Tim.
Anna Tommize: "Oooh. Tha'ss…thass bad, then."
Anna Tommize frowns.
Tim: "Yeaaah, it's fine, with Team Stormcloud gone I got the police to clear you to leave."
Esme: "There's always something! I left the pokemon center a mess to clean up."
Anna Tommize blinks.
Anna Tommize: "O-OK…Less go, then."
Tim: "So I heard. I figured it was time to go."
Tim: "So Esme! That lecture. Do you know what you're going to say?"
Esme: "Lecture?"
Anna Tommize tilts her head.
Max Thorn has Nootaikok out for now; he's wearing a harness with some chemical icepacks inserted into pockets attached to the side.
[OOC] Max Thorn: Nootaikok, that is, not Max.
Tim: "Yeah! You're going to brief Team Jaeger's scientists about how shards are formed, and how beating up the ground can make it easier to find more."
Esme squints. "…uh huh."
Tim looks at Esme, his expression cheerful but serious. "A lot of people are really looking forward to this, so please don't mess it up."
Esme scratches her head. "Is not that complicated. Shards are easier to find in sand!"
Tim: "Yeah, tell THEM that. This is a revelation to them."
Anna Tommize: "Umm…"
Anna Tommize tilts her head.
Esme: "Or caves, or in rare cases, airship wreckage." Her bag jingles.
Tim: "And they can serve as a fuel source, right?"
Esme: "Apparently."
Anna Tommize blinks.
Anna Tommize: "They won't shoot at us…?"
Tim: "The scientists? Nah. They want your help finding out how to deal with the things that were shooting at US."
Tim: "I mean, c'mon, finding out that the raidertanks were eating the ground? At least now we know."
Tim: "All these years, we thought they were just being cruel and mean. Not that they aren't."
Tim: "So can shards be farmed? How do they grow?"
Sam Spade: "That's a side benefit."
Anna Tommize: "O-ooh…"
Tim: "Were they, like, turning Dojji into their idea of agriculture?"
Sam Spade: "It seems unlikely."
Sam Spade: "Not impossible, but unlikely."
Esme: "They can be /collected/, if you have the proper skills and sensory equipment. But for a single person, even that has its limits; I can only do about 20 minutes, tops."
Sam Spade: "More likely, they were being cruel and mean, and fueling themselves in the process."
Esme: "The Stormies had multiple pokemon out doing it, so it explains why they were able to get so many, and I guess the tanks just have more spiritual fortitude, or something."
Esme: "Shards just kind of appear! If you look hard enough, you can find them anywhere."
Anna Tommize: "S-should we show him…?"
Anna Tommize blinks.
Anna Tommize: "We can do it when we hit route 3…"
Tim: "Multiple pokemon? Pff, that's not a problem."
Sam Spade: "…We're on route three, Anna."
Anna Tommize looks down.
Anna Tommize: "O-oh…"
Tim: "There are thousands of raidertanks in Dojji by now. Maybe millions. Records show not even a hundred were sent in."
Anna Tommize: "Sorry, in my head I'm still in that room, ehehehe…"
Anna Tommize: "They're building more of them…?"
Max Thorn: "… I didn't think they had replication capability."
Tim: "They didn't."
Esme: "Huh."
Sam Spade: "Then how…?"
Esme: "That warrants some research, yeah."
Tim: "We're still not sure, but we think Mega Raidertank has something to do with it."
Max Thorn: "…"
Esme: "So there's something called a Mega Raidertank?"
Anna Tommize: "A mega…?"
Tim nods.
Anna Tommize: "Isn't that when a thinger lives 100 years and grows an extra…wait, tanks down have tails…"
Max Thorn squints. "I'm going to guess that somehow the RTs became pokemon in their own right."
Tim: "Rotoms don't mega-evolve. Tanks, without pokemon, don't either. And yet…"
Tim glances at Max. "They're already pokemon. Rotoms."
Max Thorn: "No, that myth has to do with ninetales, Anna."
Max Thorn: "Doesn't mean the non-rotom half hasn't developed a distinct identity. And we have other artificial pokemon on record, like porygon."
Tim: "I guess. Maybe if we had an artificial pokemon production facility to analyze."
Anna Tommize: "Yeah…"
Somewhere in the distance, thunder sounds.
Esme: "What, do you need a porygon egg or something?"
Anna Tommize flinches.
Anna Tommize: "Loud…"
Tim looks to the left, in the direction of the coast. "Hope it doesn't rain here."
Esme: "In any case, as Anna said, if you wanted me to show you how to find shards as we go along, I could. It's super easy once you know how!"
Anna Tommize: "Y-yeh. We just dig 'em up…"
Tim: "Hmm…sure! But let's wait until that lecture; I want to see how the others react to it."
Anna Tommize: "E-er, OK…"
Tim: "Besides, from what I heard? Well…have you ever searched for shards in an archaeological dig?"
Anna Tommize: "I-I've never been to one…"
Tim: "Or maybe 'cemetery' is the better word for it. You ever hear about the Field in Dojoholm?"
Anna Tommize: "Noo."
Sam Spade: "I…Maybe?"
Tim: "It's this great big field, where timburrs, gurdurrs, and conkeldurrs have been planting their beams for over a thousand years to mark someone else's honor. Many of 'em have been when someone else - an honored foe, or their trainer - died; sometimes they bury the body under the beam."
Esme: "Ahh, Mémé used to go for shards in some… unsavory places, but I wasn't allowed."
Tim: "They get a new beam to wield, leaving the old one as a marker."
Max Thorn: "Kind of a weird way to go about it. I'd have figured they'd plant trees."
Tim: "I'm told…"
Tim shrugs, his expression darkening for a moment.
Tim: "…the past is waiting for us there."
Anna Tommize: "Ooh…"
Anna Tommize: "The past…?"
Esme: "We've been getting a lot of that lately. Though I'm not complaining."
Tim nods, then smiles and looks up. "Buuut let's not worry about that until we're there."
Anna Tommize: "O-OK…"
The day wears on. Toward sunset, the group reaches the crater where the airship engine landed. A call during the trip confirms that Jack is on his way.
Tim: "Let's camp here!"
Sam Spade: "Um. Seems as good a spot as any."
Sam Spade: "I'm going to head off a ways and get Malta some exercise."
[OOC] Sam Spade: Focus + XP training.
Max Thorn nods and gets things set up. Soon enough there is the sizzling of burgers and hot dogs over a portable grill.
The crater has made a small clearing to the side of Route 3; it missed the cable run, and already wild pokemon are sniffing around the new terrain feature.
[OOC] WC GM: End session at end of day; start next session the next morning?
[OOC] Max Thorn: Works for me.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Me too.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Same.
[OOC] Esme: verily
Sam Spade: "Hey, Anna. What's that?"
Sam Spade points at one of the wild pokemon.
Anna Tommize: "Haah?"
Anna Tommize looks in the direction indicated.
Max Thorn sets out the condiments and toppings, then… "Food's ready, folks. I've got some vegan patties and a few tofu dogs, but the rest of it's actual meat."
[OOC] WC GM: Who's that pokemon?
Anna Tommize reaches into her overalls pocket to try and dig out her pokedex.
[OOC] Sam Spade: That's right, Anna. Pass the buck to WC!
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Fufufufu.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Also I just dunno what pokemon would be appropriate.
Pokedex: "Voltorb. It looks just like a poke ball. It is dangerous because it may electrocute or explode on contact."
[OOC] Sam Spade: Well, we're between the steel and electrical gym cities…
Anna Tommize: "E-explode…"
Anna Tommize thinks.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Anna already has her 3.
Pokedex: "Electrode. It is known to drift on winds if it is bloated to bursting with stored electricity."
[OOC] WC GM: And Anna *may* notice her friends flinching away right now? ;)
Esme: "Try not to cause any more explosions, s'il te plait."
Sam Spade frowns.
Sam Spade: "…And it's nibbling on wires exposed by the airship crash."
Sam Spade: "…Um."
Sam Spade: "Tim, should we be here?"
Tim looks at the pokemon.
Tim: "…it's…probably safe? So long as we don't approach them."
[OOC] Anna Tommize: I wanna approach it.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Objections?
Sam Spade: "Oh…okay…"
[OOC] Esme: Hey man you've got +2 to lightninballs, go talk if you want
Sam Spade keeps a wary eye out.
[OOC] Max Thorn: Only if we're outside the blast radius. <.<
Anna Tommize approaches it.
Esme flops down at the camp, unzipping her bag to produce a perfectly egg-shaped… well, egg.
Max Thorn: "…Where'd that come from, Esme?"
Anna Tommize crouches down and tilts her head at it.
Sam Spade goes back to putting Malta through her moves.
Anna Tommize: "Izzat tasty…?"
Esme: "Oh! I made it before we left."
The voltorb - about half a meter tall, up past Anna's knees - rocks in place, rolling to and fro on the ground near the cable run.
Max Thorn: "… 'Made'?"
Anna Tommize: "Mmm? What is it?"
Anna Tommize looks at it.
Anna Tommize rolled up 4d6+2: 16 (16) (Charm)
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Pliss dun blow up on me…
The voltorb finally looks up! Anna got its attention.
Anna Tommize: "Ooh~"
Anna Tommize: "Heyo~"
Anna Tommize: "Izzat tasty?"
Voltorb: "Volt."
Max Thorn puts down a bowl of kibble for Nootaikok, then walks over and sits next to Esme. "May I look at it, please?"
Esme: "I sort of hotwired the leftover storage system hardware in the Pokemon Center to digitize an egg! There were some… malfunctions. I reimbursed them. But it worked!"
Anna Tommize: "Mm…can I taste it?"
Esme nods.
Anna Tommize scoots over to the cable run. Meeps sits next to her.
Max Thorn examines the egg thoroughly.
Max Thorn rolled up 5d6: 16 (16) (Pokemon Ed)
The voltorb rolls away a bit, exposing a hole leading into the cable run. Sure enough, the insulation on an outer wire has been nicked.
[OOC] WC GM: Results of roll from Pen, since it's Esme's egg.
Anna Tommize scoots up and taps the exposed wire with her tongue. ((Oh god Anna what are you doing))
Anna Tommize flinches at the buzzing sensation on her tongue.
Anna Tommize: "Woah. S-strong stuff…"
WC GM rolled up 4d10+10: 26 (26)
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Damage, right? : P
[OOC] WC GM: Right. That - SpDef. Thunder, basically. The wire has no SpAtk but is electric-type.
[OOC] Esme: Hyu-mans don't eat electricity
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Hahaha. Anna takes 16, then.
A surge comes along before Anna fully disengages.
Anna's hair is sticking out and a bit singed.
Anna Tommize waves at her tongue.
Anna Tommize: "Yeesh…"
Anna Tommize twitches a bit and shakes herself out.
Anna Tommize: "Spicy…"
Anna Tommize: "…Well, enjoy."
[OOC] WC GM: There've been several electrocuted-but-survived humans in the anime. Anna now joins their ranks.
Anna Tommize nods at the voltorb.
Max Thorn: "… How interesting. I didn't think you could *get* a porygon egg. But something seems to be missing here, I think. Do be sure to get my attention while it's hatching, though. For science, but also because this one's special."
The voltorb rolls right back over the hole, covering it up. "Orb."
Max Thorn: "But I don't think you really needed me to know /that/."
Anna Tommize stands up and looks back at the group.
Anna Tommize hollers over, "Electricity hurts to eat!"
Esme: "Yeaaaah. I got /most/ of it right. I think I can adjust it in post though."
Max Thorn: "You're not an electrophage! Did you expect something different?!" Max shouts back.
Anna Tommize: "U-uuh…"
Anna Tommize: "I guess I didn't really think about it…"
Max Thorn facepalms. With the hand *not* holding the egg, thankfully.
Anna Tommize looks back up at the Airship wreckage.
Anna Tommize: "Y'guys wanna look through?"
The wreckage has been cleared out.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Awww.
Only the crater remains - other than a few bits of metal and glass.
Anna Tommize frowns.
[OOC] WC GM: Anna wouldn't necessarily have known this, though.
Max Thorn hands the egg back. "Well, it /is/ software-based…"
Anna Tommize: "If there's current, b-but the ship is crashed…"
Tim: "It's at your mother's."
Tim: "She had it hauled off to her gym."
Anna Tommize gulps.
Anna Tommize: "O-ooh…"
Tim: "What was left of it."
[OOC] Max Thorn: Could I have This One's Special apply now? It seems kinda silly to have it target a /hatching/ egg.
[OOC] WC GM: Sure.
Tim: "I'm more worried about the pokemon that were inside."
[OOC] Esme: Thanks for the use of your Feature, yo
[OOC] Max Thorn: No problemo.
Anna Tommize: "The Rotom?"
Anna Tommize: "I have them here!"
Anna Tommize sends out her as-yet unnamed Rotom.
Max Thorn: "And the togetics and emolgas."
Tim: "Team Stormcloud's."
Esme: "They probably got off okay, they can all fly, and were hauling off their injured."
Max Thorn: "They didn't find any pokemon inside, I take it?"
Esme: "Very organized!"
Tim shakes his head. "Only a few wild pokemon. Team Stormcloud's got their own out, and anything usable. Took all the hard drives and memory chips."
Sam Spade: "I'm starting to wonder who is in control there."
Anna Tommize: "Oooh…"
Tim frowns. "Yeah. That seems…*organized*."
Anna Tommize: "They didn't take the engine…"
Sam Spade: "That Pichu…"
Anna Tommize: "Maybe if I get Mom the generators she won't be as mad at me…"
Tim: "Anything the pokemon didn't take, your mother did."
Max Thorn: "I'm sure she's handled it already."
Anna Tommize: "No, the electricity is on!"
Anna Tommize indicates the cable run the voltorb is eating.
Tim: "Yeah? That's Route 3."
[OOC] Sam Spade: I thought the wires were the power line from E-town to Foundry City?
[OOC] WC GM: ^
[OOC] Anna Tommize: …My reading comprehension is not so great apparently.
[OOC] WC GM: I'd say Anna should know this, but, well, Anna.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Yeah…
Max Thorn taps a note into his pokedex to be sent to the Wirehold Gym, informing them of the insulation breach.
Anna Tommize blinks.
Anna Tommize: "W-well, less go…"
Max quickly gets a reply note thanking him for reporting it.
[OOC] Max Thorn: it's evening, not morning.
[OOC] Max Thorn: And there's food. :p
Anna Tommize returns her rotom and walks back to the camp.
Tim: "What I'd like to know is, where did they GO? You'd think a large group of pokemon carrying technology would be conspicuous."
Anna Tommize: "They could fly, right…?"
Anna Tommize: "Maybe they just carried it off."
Max Thorn: "Probably they had some means of calling in a teleporting pokemon."
Tim: "Maybe. Were there any psychic types? That might be a start."
[OOC] Anna Tommize: I need to go soon.
[OOC] Anna Tommize: Wrap stuff up?
[OOC] WC GM: We can end here, if everyone likes.
Esme counts shards. "Not the ocean. Maybe dug?"
[OOC] Esme: Hokay
