Session 47

After the group's adventure in space, the rest of the day proceeds far more mundanely - though no less importantly or productively.
The police are quite attentive when Max briefs them, many at first disbelieving the possibility of a pokemon army until they see video evidence.
Plans are made to stop Team Stormcloud at a bridge connecting parts of a mountain pass a short distance outside town the next morning.
Sam Spade: "…Captain Jenny, do you want our help for this?"
Sam Spade: "We…do have some experience with Team Stormderp, but as you can tell from how I refer to them, there is a history of animosity as well."
Captain Jenny: "That's a good point, but if you have time we would prefer that you be on hand. Your experience might be helpful."
Sam Spade: "Max, Lin, Esme? Tim, do we have time?"
Linnea: "I mean, I'm always up for putting boots in asses for a good cause."
Sam Spade knows certain people in the group, read: everyone, really wants to get to Bay Island to help out Lugia, but.
Captain Jenny: "Team Stormcloud aside, you are some of the most experienced pokemon trainers we have on hand right now."
Esme shrugs. "I still wanted to pick up a few things while I was here, but aside from blowing up another blimp I'm not sure what assis-"
Esme blinks.
Esme: "I keep forgetting that."
Tim shrugs. "We're not on a timetable. If you want to deal with this first, I won't stop you."
Max Thorn: "As I recall, our obligations are only time-sensitive in the 'within the next year or so' sense, not in the 'people are going to die in the next few hours' sense."
Sam Spade: "Really? I mean, I know…Dojji and all, but surely there are plenty of trainers here who've actually completed their journey."
Jenny grimaces. "You'd think so…"
Max Thorn: "Most of the scientists here aren't combat trainers, Sam."
Sam Spade blinks.
Esme: "Plus most of them probably get put in a bind. Remember that guy we talked to who couldn't jump the thing?"
Captain Jenny: "And the ones who are, well…they're…" She glances at Tim. "…not here right now."
Tim cocks his head, clearly confused.
Sam Spade turns to Tim. "Once again, I'm glad we 'lucked out' and got assigned you."
Sam Spade frowns thoughtfully.
Sam Spade: "Hey, does anyone know how many of the J- Jaeger recruits are Amodans, as opposed to Dojjian refugees?"
Tim: "Hmm, not off hand. I want to say…somewhere between…" His eyes roll up in contemplation. "…hmm…ten and fifty percent, maybe? Probably closer to ten."
Captain Jenny: "So you really haven't heard about the Inner Ring problems?"
Sam Spade looks to Captain Jenny.
Esme perks.
Esme: "Problems, huh."
Max Thorn: "…Inner Ring problems?"
Captain Jenny: "Dugburg, Skitter, Sky, Elysium, Onyx…they're all having, well, issues unique to them. We've been spared - or were, though the storage system was ours I guess - but many of our trainers went to help."
Captain Jenny: "The ones who are left are busy fishing to keep everyone fed."
Max Thorn: "(How much do you want to bet that these problems will persist until we come along?)"
Sam Spade: "A few more pressing possibilities spring to mind, Max."
Sam Spade casts a worried glance at Captain Jenny, but then glances at Tim and says nothing more.
Captain Jenny: "I mean, I'd be in Onyx Peaks right now if someone didn't have to keep the peace around here."
Captain Jenny gets a slightly lurid expression. "All those gems…" But only for a moment. "…would get in the way of my duty."
Max Thorn: "Anyway, yes, we'll lend our expertise."
Captain Jenny: "Thank you. Oh! Dimitri said to tell you he's gotten spare student housing for your stay here."
Jenny hands Max a keycard. "Dratini Dorms, penthouse suite B."
Max Thorn pockets the card. "Excellent. Dare I assume it has space enough for the four of us?"
Sam Spade: "And will Tim be staying with us or will he be staying somewhere else?"
Jenny smiles and nods. "I've only been to the penthouse once, a party when I was a student here. Four double bedrooms - space for eight - and a common area. Ah…I assume Tim will…"
Max Thorn: "Aha, that should definitely be room enough."
Tim shakes his head. "Be dragged off by my associates for an evening of pep talks and…ah, please, everyone, go ahead and miss it. Please."
Tim: "IF I make it out of there, I'll camp out in the living room."
Sam Spade: "Sounds like something to avoid."
Captain Jenny: "Without a keycard?"
Tim sighs. "They'll foist some master access keycard on me, I'm sure. I wish they wouldn't make those."
Jenny frowns. "They're illegal."
Max Thorn: "As if Team Jaeger cared about Amodan law."
Tim: "Why do you think I don't want them made? Buuut…" He shrugs. "I'll destroy mine in the morning, okay?"
Sam Spade: "Like Max said. Right now, Team Jaeger makes the laws…"
Sam Spade gives Tim a speculatory look.
Jenny throws her hands up. "Fine, fine."
Tim nods. "But we have a bit of time before then. Penthouse suite? Does that come with…" His eyes get a bit wide, almost pleading. "…free room service?"
Jenny chuckles and nods.
Tim runs out, heading for the dorm. "C'moneveryonelet'sgo!"
Sam Spade snickers.
Sam Spade: "He's very mature for his age. Usually."
Max Thorn rolls his eyes, and takes his time heading thataway. Once we're done here, that is.
Jenny smiles and shakes her head. "Hey, free good food? I'd go for it. Anyway, we're done here; go eat."
Sam Spade: "It was a pleasure meeting you, Captain. Good night and we'll see you in the morning."
Sam Spade departs as well.
Esme: "Mhm mhm." Dorm time it is, then.
Dratini Dorms is one of the closest things to a skyscraper in Scale Mount. While its base is on the next tier down, it is tall enough to have a skybridge to the university - and the penthouse level is a few floors above that.
The top floor is divided in two; the party gets the B half. (A map suggests there are smaller, faux "penthouse" suites on the floor below, labeled C through F.)
Sam Spade: "Oooh, this is very cushy."
Max Thorn swipes the card through and opens the door, of course. He takes his time, too.
Indeed, the suite has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a mini-kitchen, a private multi-function clothes-and-dishes washer-and-dryer unit, and a spacious common area with couches and a TV with an entertainment console (bolted down).
Realistic art of dragon pokemon lines the walls - all with university logos somewhere, often on the trainers or clothing the dragon pokemon are wearing. Closer inspection shows these are actually photographs - most of them staged, but celebrating this or that triumph over the decades.
Linnea: "Mighty impressive."
Esme: "Cushy indeed!"
Tim runs over to the phone, next to which is chained a menu of services. He flips to the room service menu and scans hungrily…then in a bit of confusion. "…Max? What…what ARE these?"
Max Thorn: "I think only the A-suite surpasses this one in quality."
Max Thorn walks over and glances at the menu.
Linnea: "What are what?"
Amoda does not have a dedicated chef's academy. If one wishes to formally learn and train in cooking, the only options are here or in Brooktale, and comfort food chefs favor the latter. Thus, the menu is dominated by various wannabe haute couture dishes - though there is more familiar basic fare, in one corner of the menu.
Apparently Tim does not recognize terms such as "hors d'oeuvres" in place of "appetizers" .
Max Thorn: "Well…the basics are down here to the right." Max points. "But I'm afraid the chefs that train for comfort food are down in Brooktale, not here."
Linnea: "Brooktale's fantastic, just sayin'."
Tim: "Oh. W-well…then I look forward to Brooktale!" He smiles, then his stomach rumbles. "Ah, if you know what this is, can you order please?"
Esme peeks. "Ah, it's the fancy stuff. Makes sense."
Max Thorn: "On the other hand…" Max runs his finger down the menu…ah, there's the French-for-potroast. "…I can at least provide one of the best pot roasts in the city."
Tim's eyes shine. "Yes please!"
Max Thorn: "Anyone else have any preferences?"
Linnea: "Food."
Linnea laughs.
Linnea: "If it's the best pot roast in the city, I'll take your word for it."
Tim nods solemnly. "Linnea, you are wise beyond your years." Sands, next to him, facepaws at that comment.
Max Thorn: "Sam? Esmé?"
Sam Spade: "I'm sorry, I was distracted by my hunger."
Max Thorn shrugs and puts in the order.
Esme: "Crepes! We don't get sweets often enough."
Max Thorn …appends an order for dessert crepes.
It takes 15 minutes - apparently, the dinner rush had just begun - until a gabite, in a tuxedo, arrives at the suite's door wheeling a tray with the party's order.
Max Thorn opens the door and stands to the side.
The gabite whisks two lids off to reveal steaming potroast on one side, and crepes arranged to spell out "THANKS 4 STORAGE" on the other.
Linnea: "Cute."
Max Thorn: "You're very welcome, and you tell the staff we said that, too."
Dishes, napkins, and cutlery are on a tray underneath the food tray. The kitchennete has cups for water.
The gabite bows and leaves.
Tim's famished expression clears away briefly as he looks at the crepes. "…they heard about you already?"
Sam Spade: "Well, it's been hours, and it's not like the word had to spread far."
Max Thorn: "The Scale Mount grapevine is the only genuinely faster-than-light communications medium I'm aware of."
Sands is already dishing up the pot roast and crepes, serving up plates to one party member after another, saving Tim then himself for last.
Esme fills a plate, setting it aside as she releases Gervais and Alexis. "There'll probably be actual news about it tomorrow, if they bother to tell everyone immediately."
Esme: "Though they may wish to get the pokemon a little more sorted out, first."
Max Thorn: "For the benefit of the rest of Amoda, maybe. Scale Mount mostly won't need it."
Sam Spade: "Heck, as the pokemon get sorted out, word will spread with them."
Tim wastes no time digging in. "That'll takesh monthsh…" He gulps to clear his mouth. "…but you'll be celebrities. Let's try to avoid press interviews until you've got all the badges, though."
Sam Spade grimaces.
Linnea is a lot busier eating than talking. Hey, fighting God takes a lot out of you.
Max Thorn gives Tim a dirty look.
Tim: "So, Dmitri says he's planning to head to Bay Island tomorrow afternoon, and wanted me to ask if you'd ride with him."
Max Thorn: "Assuming Dunderclod clears out like we hope, sure."
Tim: "Apparently the island's gotten unstable lately, and he wants to investigate."
Sam Spade: "I think we were hoping to go there anyway."
Max Thorn: "What she said."
Sam Spade: "Especially between what the Big Guy told us and what we saw on Iggy's scorchings."
Tim: "I…think he was joking when he said he'd want your help making sure it doesn't collapse into the sea?"
Esme eyes Tim, shaking her head slowly. "If only!"
Tim: "Something about 'island jenga'." With that, he resumes eating.
[OOC] WC GM: Anything else for this scene, or fast forward to morning?
Esme stretches, cracking her knuckles. "Well that was nice. But back to work for me!"
[OOC] Esme: Nuffin here
[OOC] Linnea: nothin'
After dinner, Tim and Sands head out, Tim's head hung resigned to his fate. Sure enough, he returns after the party is asleep; he is found in his sleeping bag in the common room, a snapped-in-twain keycard next to him with "SHRED" and "THIS" scrawled on its halves.
A note has been slipped under the door with coordinates - which Max recognizes as the bridge - and "10:30 AM" . It is just now 9 AM, and getting there will take about 10 minutes.
Max Thorn tosses the two halves into the room's document shredder, which is (unsurprisingly) up for the job.
Max Thorn places an order for a continental breakfast, theorizing that the smell of food will cancel out bed gravity.
Esme pokes her head out of her room, hearing Max up and about in the common area. "Oh, is everyone up yet?"
Sam Spade is staring out a window.
The same tuxedo-clad gabite, or the gabite's twin, arrives at 9:20, fanning a wing after food is unveiled to waft the scent toward any still-slumbering party members before leaving.
[OOC] WC GM: Is Sam looking in any particular direction?
Max Thorn: "…I'm sure they are now."
[OOC] WC GM: Out to sea, toward the bridge, toward the university…?
Linnea: "Mrrrf. I'm movin'."
[OOC] Sam Spade: Not really; she's not paying attention, either.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Just kinda staring.
Esme claps her hands together. "Oh good! I can finally finish this up then." She disappears back into her space. A few seconds later, an ear-ringing crash comes from behind the door.
If it were not for the mountains, Sam might possibly be able to see the upper reaches of Sky City from here. Sadly, one of the mountains is right in the way.
A few dragon pokemon flit through the sky, apparently in some kind of formation training.
Down on the skybridge, a horde of students mill their way from dorms to classrooms.
Max Thorn: "Anyway, we're to be at the bridge by 10:30. It's a 10-minute walk, though."
Tim finally stirs upon Esme's crash, slowly waking up.
Linnea: "… what is that lunatic up to this time?"
With bags under his eyes, Tim absently begins munching on a plate of food Sands brings him.
Sam Spade: "More plates, perhaps?"
Esme returns, a small bit of smoke wafting out after her. "Didn't break anything, so it's fine."
The sprinkler system has apparently classified Esme's activities as "science" rather than "fire" , and not extinguished.
Tim looks around after finishing half his plate. "You okay, Sam?"
Linnea: "Cool. What's the result?"
Max Thorn gets everything packed up as the party eats, occasionally taking a bite of his own breakfast…
Linnea: "Though that reminds me, next long stop we get I'm gonna see if I can blend up some good restoratives in case we're on long field missions again."
Sam Spade: "I'm good, just thinking."
Tim: "Oh? About what?"
Esme: "Hm? Oh! This." She points to a black belt around her waist, adorned in silver buckles.
Sam Spade: "Ghosts, gods, balance."
Esme: "I got tired of wearing under-armor all the time."
Esme: "Ghosts suck."
Tim: "Hmm. I had a dream Esme made a grapple line long enough to reach Bay Island from here, and we all just surfed all the way down."
Linnea: "… Rad."
Esme ponders.
Esme: "My aim isn't that good."
Max Thorn: "Proooooobably not practical, at the moment."
Linnea: "Railgun hookshot."
Max Thorn checks the clock.
It is now 9:40.
Tim stretches and yawns. "If you don't mind, I'll go back to bed when you're gone. I'll catch up at the docks once you're done with Stormcloud, but the Jaegers really kept me up late."
[OOC] Sam Spade: Can we say PCs got up early enough to do daily training with their pokemon?
Esme: "Anyway, Lin, if you're really curious, you'll probably see what it's about eventually. Right now, I should run and see if I can pick up a souvenir before we leave!"
[OOC] WC GM: Or there's time for training between now & bridge.
[OOC] WC GM: Or between bridge & docks.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Works
[OOC] WC GM: So, fast forward to bridge?
[OOC] Max Thorn: Sure.
[OOC] Esme: honk honk
There is a full police barricade, complete with two cars parked in a V, at the far side of the bridge. Beyond it is a twisting mountain path, coming up from below. On the near side of the bridge is the edge of Scale Mount proper, denoted by a stone arch big enough for a wailord to crawl through, with "WELCOME TO SCALE MOUNT" engraved on the top portion.
Linnea: "Dang…."
Captain Jenny gives the party a glance as they walk up. "Good timing. They're almost here."
Sam Spade: "Is the asshole pichu there?"
From around the bend - where the trail disappears behind a cliff - Team Stormcloud's marching song can be heard, faint but slowly growing louder.
Max Thorn: "We'll see in a few minutes, I think."
Esme: "I'd rather the Xatu be here. It can be reasoned with. I think."
Max Thorn: "I liked the xatu, yeah."
Sam Spade: "The Prophet? Yeah."
Indeed, the first pokemon around the bend is that pichu, back to the party and police, gesturing to the other pokemon to follow along. When they suddenly halt after coming into sight, the pichu stops after several paces, turns around, and sees the blockade.
Sam Spade scowls at the pichu.
Max Thorn: "Hi."
Linnea: "I am filled with a sudden sense of existential dread."
Sam Spade: "If you're here for Petri, she's not. Arceus took her."
Max Thorn: "Go look in Gaela."
Esme: "Get out."
Sam Spade: "….Some history of animosity."
There is a commotion among the pokemon, and eventually the xatu comes forth, floating over the other pokemon, eyes glowing.
Sam Spade: "Hello."
Sam Spade nods respectfully to the Prophet.
Max Thorn sketches a respectful bow, acknowledging the xatu as an equal.
Xatu: "You are free of the master invader this time. This is good."
Max Thorn: "We recently opened Dojji back up, yeah. That'll occupy Jaeger's attention for a while, I think."
Sam Spade: "Also I think the prophet is talking about Tim, though…"
Sam Spade frowns
Sam Spade: "…Wait."
Sam Spade: "Are you saying Tim is the Master Invader? I thought that was Moth."
Xatu: "The master invader is in pieces. You traveled with one."
Xatu: "That piece is not here now."
Sam Spade: "…Huh. That's…really………weird. But makes sense."
Linnea: "What."
Max Thorn: "…You mean Anna?"
Sam Spade: "You know how I said last night that Tim was really mature for his age?"
Sam Spade: "Yeah, there's a reason for that."
Xatu: "We seek the abberation."
Max Thorn: "Well. Shaymin told us she's over in Gaela right now, paying for her crimes."
Sam Spade: "Because the reason Tim and Moth put together almost make 'Timothy' is not the same reason that Ter and Rese put together make Therese."
Xatu: "…no deceit in you. You really did encounter nature's avatar."
The xatu then looks at Max intensely, as if giving a double-take.
Esme: "Also God. Punched him in the face."
Sam Spade: "…He let us."
Esme seems unusually proud about that.
Xatu: "No. Not just 'encounter'."
Esme: "Still counts!"
Sam Spade: "Oh, I agree. But I want to make sure that the psychic prophet guiding an army of mostly-wild pokemon doesn't think we're disrespecting God."
Xatu: "You have taken the first step on a dangerous path. One that may consume your soul."
Max Thorn: "I'm sure he can figure that out himself, Sam. He's a smart 'mon."
Sam Spade: "Why risk it?"
Xatu: "But…one that would not have been opened to you had your intent been to usurp."
Max Thorn: "Eh. Seemed like the right thing to do. Still does."
Xatu's wings suddenly begin moving almost of their own will, until they suddenly point to Esme and Linnea. "SAGES!" Xatu's telepathic voice echoes loudly in Esme's and Linnea's heads.
Linnea: "Ow."
Linnea: "Please tone it down, like, one or two notches. Thanks."
Linnea: "What's up?"
Esme: "A what now?"
Xatu: "You are charged with preventing usurpation! And aberration! Of that one!" Xatu's wings point to Max.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Can Sam hear them?
[OOC] WC GM: As can Max. Xatu's attention is focused, but this is being broadcast.
[OOC] Sam Spade: kk
A quick glance at the police suggests at least some of them are hearing Xatu too.
Sam Spade: "Something to do with why Max's hair is suddenly green, I assume?"
Max Thorn: "I don't plan on taking Shaymin's power. Got enough of my own."
Esme eyes Max up and down. "Yeah, definitely not the type. Wouldn't worry about it."
Max Thorn: "And, frankly, it'd violate the trust he put in me to serve as his hands."
Linnea: "Uh…"
Xatu frowns. "Your intent is not to usurp. Make sure your result is not, either."
Linnea: "Y'know, isn't it really hard work actually being a deity? Why would a mere mortal even think about such an uptaking?"
Esme: "Is that a serious question?"
Linnea: "… …. … no."
Xatu's frown relaxes. "Ah. Naivety from a sage. Refreshing."
Sam Spade: "Yes. Quite amusing, too."
Sam Spade gives Linnea a quick hug.
Linnea: "Ugyah?"
Linnea peers curiously at Sam.
Max Thorn: "Godhood isn't something you work at, you just…are."
Esme coughs.
Max Thorn: "As inevitably and naturally as the tides rolling in and out."
Xatu: "Be wary of your pet seducer, sage."
Sam Spade glares at Xatu.
Sam Spade: "Was that referring to me?"
Linnea: "… I'm confused."
There is a commotion among the Stormcloud pokemon, then the pichu holds up a sheet. The sheet floats, as if picked up by telekinesis from the xatu or another pokemon, and drifts toward Sam.
Xatu: "Ah yes. The fanart."
Sam Spade glowers.
Max Thorn: "…"
Sam Spade waits for it to get close, then snatches it out of the air.
On the sheet is an amateur, but recognizable, image of a large Sam with her fingers over the other party members, drawn like blank-eyed marionettes.
Max Thorn looks at it over Sam's shoulder.
Max Thorn falls over laughing, a few seconds later.
Sam Spade snickers.
Linnea: "Uh."
Esme: "H-huh."
Sam Spade: "You're next, Pichu. Brace yourself for our next encounter."
Linnea: "I feel ill."
The pichu blows Sam a kiss, then turns around and tail-wags at her.
Max Thorn finally manages to compose himself.
Sam Spade pulls one eyelid down and sticks her tongue out at the pichu.
Xatu: "Tensions rise. Our objective is not here. We go."
Sam Spade: "Travel well. I imagine we'll meet again soon."
Sam Spade drops to sotto voce.
The xatu floats back over the pokemon, who turn around and march away - except for the pichu, who taunts a few moments more before being telekinetically grabbed, lifted, and flung over the pokemon, presumably forced over to the new front.
Max Thorn: "(…So, are you gonna draw a reaction?)"
Sam Spade: "And I need to learn to draw, and think of something embarrassing to draw that pichu doing."
Linnea: "Where in the sweet fuck did they get that idea from?"
Max Thorn: "(Eh. Just commission a pic of that pichu getting a spanking.)"
Esme shrugs
Sam Spade grins at Linnea.
Sam Spade: "What kinds of pokemon do you see get affectionate, Linnea?"
Sam Spade: "What kinds kiss easily?"
Max Thorn: "Jynx, of course."
Esme: "Poison."
Linnea: "Hm…"
Sam Spade: "Jynx is the one that pops into my head, yeah."
Linnea: "Right, but…"
Max Thorn: "Mama raichu pinching ickle wee pichu's cheeks?"
Sam Spade: "….Yes. So much yes."
Max Thorn: "Or pulling him by an ear. Either works."
Captain Jenny rallies the officers to dismantle the blockade, after waiting a minute to make sure Team Stormcloud has gone.
Captain Jenny: "Great work on those negotiations. Thank you!"
Captain Jenny: "I…err…just have one question."
Max Thorn: "Hmm?"
Sam Spade: "Yes?"
Jenny tilts her head. "FAN art?!?"
Sam Spade: "…Apparently?"
Linnea: "Uh."
Sam Spade gives her the paper.
Max Thorn: "We have a history with that group."
Sam Spade: "Want to keep it? It's…"
Linnea: "I guess we're popular?"
Sam Spade shrugs
Max Thorn: "And apparently they seem to think Sam's psychic and capable of bending us to her will or something."
Jenny looks over the drawing. "Well, if you don't want it. But…"
Jenny looks at Sam. Looks at the rest of the group. Looks at Sam. "Uh, huh. Well."
Esme: "I'm at least 60% sure she's not psychic."
Sam Spade: "I know, right?"
Captain Jenny: "Juuust, ah, not relevant to anything we just said, Dimitri mentioned he'd be taking you to Bay Island. I assume you'll be heading to Shady Narrows after that. Ah…be careful who you talk about certain abilities to there."
Max Thorn: "Right."
Linnea: "Sure."
Max Thorn: "Before we go, though, I need to borrow the pokémon lab for something real quick…"
[OOC] Max Thorn: setting up houndour's type-change.
Jenny nods. "That's between you and the university. I just…well…you know that Shady Narrows capitulated to the Jaegers quickly, right? And that, well…"
Jenny looks to the side, pouting and holding one elbow with her other hand.
Sam Spade: "Ah?"
Captain Jenny: "It's…well…I really shouldn't bother you with personal problems, but…"
Sam Spade moves in a little closer to Captain Jenny.
Sam Spade: "It's okay, really. We're heading that way anyway."
Esme: "(Everyone else does, anyway.)"
Jenny blushes. "I'm…w-well…" She takes in a breath. "I don't know if there's still a Jenny or Joy in that city. Not…alive, anyway."
Max Thorn: "We'll find out one way or the other."
Linnea: "Correct."
Jenny exhales. "Thank you. I'd go, but…I'm needed here."
Max Thorn nods. "Understandable."
Captain Jenny: "And everyone I've asked to go check has just disappeared. But you seem capable."
Sam Spade blinks.
Sam Spade: "…Y…Yeah."
Max Thorn taps in a quick note to Professor O'Riain, requesting about 30 minutes to an hour in the lab. One with a pokémon digitizer, preferably.
Max quickly gets a reply affirming his request, with a window starting an hour and a half hence.
Max Thorn: "(Oh, good. That's settled…)" In the interim, Max checks his notes and does some off-the-cuff mathematics, absentmindedly heading back up and to the lab, albeit slowly.
Jenny unhugs herself and nods, mounting her motorcycle. "Thank you. Now, if you'll excuse me, the pokemon storage team wants my advice on dealing with pokemon who have criminal records. Apparently there are some outstanding warrants."
Max Thorn waves an acknowledgement.
[OOC] WC GM: Log end soon. Next session you'll be on a boat. Anything else y'all want to do on screen at Scale Mount first?
Esme claps her hands together. "Well that went pretty well."
[OOC] Max Thorn: After a timeskip, Max is gonna see if he can get an ice stone and a [whatever floette needs to evolve] stone.
Esme: "Oh right!"
Esme tosses Max a Shiny Stone. "Made one of those on accident while I was working, figured you can use it."
Antheia catches it, diving off of Max to do so. Surprise, florges.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Haha
Esme: "Oh good, it works!"
Sam Spade: "Whoa!"
[OOC] Linnea: Most of my stuff is shopping and fusing some medicines.
Esme: "Going to go see what the Mount is willing to part with in its TM library… and if they have a specific radioactive rock, before we head out."
[OOC] WC GM: Evolutionary stones can be purchased here, at standard prices.
Max Thorn: "…Well, that's one change out of the way…need to find an ice stone, too…"
[OOC] WC GM: That is, 3000 pokeyen per stone.
Sam Spade follows Esme, then.
Linnea: "I'm gonna get some restoratives sorted out, maybe some other supplies besides."
[OOC] WC GM: You have to head down to the shopping district, rather than just on the university level, though.
Esme makes way for the shopping district, after finding that apparently everything at the university is for 'research purposes only'. Cowards. Appropriate, but still.
[OOC] WC GM: As to the TMs, most of the stuff listed on page 301 of core book, next door to the stone shop.
The shopping district is the largest shopping area that Linnea, Esme, or technically Max have yet visited, though Max has been here before.
Sam has seen larger in Sky City.
The district technically occupies the entire tier below the university, though there is a bunch of residential use, notably the base of Dratini Dorms.
Most of the actual shopping area is in one large three-story mall - which, naturally, features a pokemon arena for showcase and practice matches in its center.
The TM and evolutionary stone stores are, naturally, on the top floor. The medicine shop is right next to the arena.
Esme attempts to acquire on the top floor a Moon Stone, and a copy of TM 82.
…and currently in the arena, Tim and Sands are taking on challengers. They appear to be doing quite well, too.
Sam Spade: "….Mmm, good for them."
Tim shifts, then almost dances as he gives orders, far more comfortable and confident than the party has seen him yet.
At one point there is a four-pokemon free for all, wherein Sands digs a line under all three opponents and traps them in the ground.
There is a bit of commotion over that move.
Sam Spade watches, still half-looking for two of the TMs her research suggests might be useful.
[OOC] Sam Spade: 40 - Aerial Ace, and 31 - Brick Break.
Just as Sam finds the TM shop, Tim looks up and finally sees her watching him. He freezes up for a moment, recalls Sands, and nearly runs out of the mall.
Esme looks over her funds. "Oh! I still have enough to get a 19 if they have that too…"
[OOC] Esme: Hahaha
Sam Spade purses her lips slightly.
Sam Spade: "Now why would he be afraid of us seeing that?"
Sam Spade sighs.
Sam Spade: "Probably because it's tacit confirmation that he's more than just a kid copy of Moth."
Sam Spade heads in, puzzling over that in her head, while she browses the inventory.
