Session 65

The kaiju-size gengar looks around, flexing its hands and leering with its ever-present grin at everyone.
Gem Jules relaxes into the traditional recital. "This will be a…"
Linnea grins and waves. "Sup buddy." Lulim paws at the floor in anticipation.
Only for the gengar to toss a shadow ball at the gym leader!
Linnea: "Yeah, that's about what I figured."
Sam Spade: "Well."
Antheia gives Max a confidant nod, then faces the gengar.
Linnea: "Yep."
Gem Jules does something, shifting to become more mundane for a moment. Each of the party, from their own training, recognizes a type shift to normal. It lasts barely long enough for the shadow ball to travel right through Gem Jules, not harming him.
Sam Spade blinks at that. Huh.
Linnea: "Cooooooool."
The gym leader then points at the party. "You can not hurt me. If you wish to take out your anger, do it on them!"
Linnea: "…Not cool."
The gengar turns to the party, grin intensifying.
Esme: "What!"
[OOC] WC GM: Round 1! Trainer actions first.
Linnea: "Whatever. Lulim's gonna eat it for breakfast."
Linnea jabs Lulim with a Dire Hit, the Absol making a small sound of annoyance but not really bothered otherwise. "Things are gonna get ugly."
Max Thorn whistles a tune, and Antheia picks up the beat, swaying gently in an imagined breeze. [Agility Orders]
Sam Spade: "Chicklet! Stay tough, stay focused on that gengar, and be ready for anything!"
[OOC] Sam Spade: Focused Orders, Tagging the Gengar. Chicklet is at 1/6 momentum.
Esme tosses a small capsule to Alexis, who clamp-grabs it with her claws. Alexis takes a power stance, staring down the Gengar! [X Attack]
The gengar leaps into the air, and dives onto Antheia! Max recognize a Bounce when he sees one, but gengar are not normally known for Flying type attacks…
WC GM rolled up 1d20: 13 (13)
WC GM rolled up 2d10+45: 53 (2 6)
[OOC] WC GM: Hits for 53-Defense damage.
[OOC] WC GM: Antheia, then Lulim, then Chicklet & Alexis!
Linnea: "Melo, he's fast."
Linnea: "I guess when you're not bound to the usual properties of matter, it doesn't… well, matter, how big you are."
Max Thorn winces, then Antheia points at the ghost-type. In under a second, a psychic blast catches him in the face.
Max Thorn rolled up 1d20 2d10+33: 15 (15) 44 (8 3) (AC 2, SpDef -1 CS on 17+)
[OOC] Max Thorn: Antheia: 31/74
Esme: "Hmm…"
The gengar is rocked back by the hit - not as much as one would expect, but there is no tink either.
Lulim charges headlong toward the Gengar, rearing up to claw at its underbelly! [Night Slash]
Linnea rolled up 1d20: 12 (12) (AC 2)
[OOC] Linnea: oh uh-hang on
[OOC] Linnea: that's 'crits on 13+' now but I didn't get it
[OOC] WC GM: Yeah, just a hit
Linnea rolled up 2d10+32: 41 (7 2) (Dark/Phys)
A solid blow, but there is just so much underbelly. Still, that definitely left a mark.
Chicklet chirps, then rushes up to the gengar and starts pummeling, her fists striking empty air - but the flames surrounding them are another matter! Flame Charge!
Sam Spade rolled up 1d20+3 2d6+10+18: 10 (7) 31 (1 2) (Chicklet's speed +1CS)
[OOC] Sam Spade: AC 2
Chicklet bounces off with a "tink" .
Linnea: "I-hmm."
Esme nods, after seeing how Lulim's attack went. "Let's take a gamble. Alexis! Use your second-worst option!"
The scizor tilts its head quizzically. She shrugs, before charging the Gengar with a…[Poison Jab]?
Esme rolled up 1d20+1: 10 (9) (AC 2)
[OOC] WC GM: hits
Esme rolled up 3d8+51: 70 (7 5 7) (Poison/Physical, but also…)
As the blow lands, something courses through Alexis, and crimson lines etch themselves into the Gengar! [Blighted]
[OOC] Esme: Until end of the next turn, loses 1 tick of HP every time it gets hit
The blow, though strong, seems to have about the expected effect on a ghost/poison type. Still, it did some damage…
[OOC] WC GM: Round 2! Trainer actions.
Max Thorn gives the Gengar a quick once-over. [PokeManiac]
Max Thorn rolled up 6d6: 25 (4 3 4 2 6 6)
Linnea spot-heals Antheia with a Super Potion. [+35 HP]
Antheia gives Lin a grateful smile and a mental 'thank you' more sensed than heard.
Max Thorn 's eyes widen. "Shaymin's arse! That's a level-100 gengar!"
Esme: "Explains a bit…"
Linnea: "I wonder if he's one of the critters that fell through negative space."
Max Thorn: "And he has Levitate, Magic Guard, and Soulstealer."
Sam Spade: "Ouch!"
Max Thorn: "And a kaiju, but I think you already noticed that much."
Sam Spade: "Well, he's still our target, Chicklet, stay focused!"
Linnea: "Well, that sucks."
Esme digs out another red capsule. "Don't want to build bad habits, but we're going to need to keep our edge, 'Lexis." [X Attack]
[OOC] Esme: More Drugz
The gengar runs up and…all the trainers recognize Thrash, but ghost-type-shifted. The gengar glows the exact same shade of purple as the ghost sea during this move, and its pattern speaks of long use of the same move.
WC GM rolled up 1d20: 18 (18)
WC GM rolled up 4d10+57: 80 (1 5 10 7)
[OOC] Max Thorn: oh god oh god
[OOC] WC GM: 80-SpDef to Lulim, Alexis, Antheia, and Chicklet!
[OOC] WC GM: Ghost-type, so apply type resistances accordingly.
[OOC] WC GM: I believe that does not faint anyone, though.
[OOC] Esme: 19/79, 2 Injuries
[OOC] Sam Spade: 9/79, 2 injuries
[OOC] Linnea: 60/93
[OOC] Max Thorn: Antheia: 14/74, …three injuries I think?
[OOC] WC GM: Antheia, then Lulim, then Chicklet & Alexis!
Linnea frowns. "I'll have you know that if pressed for my life, I can and will break protocol."
[OOC] Sam Spade: Noiseless would be doing good, but I switched her out for whatever reason
Antheia sends a [Dazzling Gleam] blast at the gengar, in defiance of her decidedly wilted-looking state.
Max Thorn rolled up 1d20 3d8+33: 8 (8) 48 (6 7 2)
[OOC] Max Thorn: AC 2, sorr
Another solid hit! Although the Blight seems to do more damage…but damage is done, regardless.
Lulim bares her fangs, then chomps down - tearing back and forth, sending bits of ghost-matter absolutely everywhere in the near vicinity. [Bite]
Linnea rolled up 1d20: 3 (3) (AC 2, Flinches on 15+, Crits on 15+)
[OOC] Linnea: Ah, well.
A giant pokemon should not be able to dodge so fast! But it does.
Chicklet glowers at the gengar, then launches a blast of fire at it! Fire Blast!
Sam Spade rolled up 1d20+4 4d10+10+15: 22 (18) 47 (8 2 2 10) (AC4, Smite)
A solid blow, magnified roughly three times by that Blight!
Alexis, in spite of the pain, kicks off to strike while she still can! She darts to and fro with an acrobatic attack! [Aerial Ace]
Esme rolled up 1d20+1: 12 (11) (Can't Miss)
Esme rolled up 2d8+56: 72 (8 8) (Flying/Physical)
This blow does more than the Blight! The gengar is already starting to look weak…
WC GM rolled up 1d20: 12 (12)
The gengar is thrashing about in rage!
[OOC] WC GM: Round 3! Trainer actions.
Sam Spade: "Alright, Chicklet, that's enough for now. Go, Noiseless!"
[OOC] Linnea: Who's worst off?
[OOC] Linnea: …though, I guess, it's more who wants to be healed first
Esme reminds herself that she should probably invest in some medicines, instead of constantly bumming off Lin… she rushes over to apply a [Potion] to Alexis.
[OOC] WC GM: By my count, Antheia at 14 HP is the lowest HP of any currently active party pokemon. Chicklet only has 9, but was just recalled.
Linnea hurries back over to Antheia again and starts applying some combat medicine. [Hyper Potion, +70 HP]
Antheia perks up, and starts grooving again. [Agility Orders]
WC GM rolled up 1d20: 3 (3)

Linnea rolled up 1d20: 1 (1) (Crits on 13+)
[OOC] Linnea: Ah, jeez.
Linnea frowns again as the Gengar lumbers sideways at just the right moment. "Hubris, is this?"
Lulim manages to slash a tombstone that looked - for a moment - like part of the gengar.
[OOC] WC GM: Alexis!
Alexis takes a power stance, then leaps towards the Gengar in [Pursuit] of overcoming this challenge!
Esme rolled up 1d20+1: 19 (18) (AC 2)

[OOC] Esme: 'Lexis is at 39/61
Linnea applies more potions, because that seems to be the better use of her time. [Super Potion, +35 HP to]

[OOC] Linnea: 31/[83]
Alexis all but crumples under that blow… but stands her ground! [4/43]
Antheia grins at the gengar, a stray beam of light reflecting off her [Dazzling Gleam]!
Linnea: "Tch…!"
Max Thorn rolled up 1d20 3d8+33: 1 (1) 53 (6 6 8) (AC 2)

The crack spreads, glowing purple, like shattering porcelain…

The gengar explodes into…it takes a moment to count, but 108 smaller gengars!
Linnea: "Uh."
Max Thorn: "…"
Linnea: "Okay, definitely breaking protocol."
Sam Spade: "Hey, are we still doing this?"
[OOC] WC GM: Noiseless! The swarm pokemon has effectively acted, so only Noiseless has yet to act this turn.
Gem Jules: "Y-yes! Gym challenge if not a bat-MMPH!" Part of the swarm tries to tackle him.
Noiseless flutters in place, then swings her wing at the swarm of gengars, launching a burst of sharpened air! Air Cutter!

Max Thorn tosses a Hyper Potion to Antheia.
Sam Spade: "Okay, Noiseless, you're doing good! Stay on top of it!"
Linnea looks like she wants to transform. Considers, considers…drops a Super Potion on Lulim instead. [+35]
Esme: "Oh ma pauvre, you've gotten so banged up…" She recalls Alexis. "You did wonderfully! Luc! Pick up where she left off!"

Sam Spade: "Malta! I've got Noiseless and she's gonna be fine. You stay on top of those gengars, alright?"
Esme: "Just because you're on cleanup doesn't mean we can lay our guard down. Stay focused, Luc!" [Focused Orders]

[OOC] WC GM: Hits for 43-Defense dark damage
Gem Jules gasps for breath now that he has a moment. The bubble is starting to collapse. "Yes! I bless this as a gym challenge now! DRIVE THESE GHOSTS BACK INTO THE SEA, AND QUICKLY!"
Gem Jules: "I can not give you much more safety."
Sam Spade: "Okay!"
[OOC] Sam Spade: Is Lulim still up?
[OOC] Linnea: Hang on
Max Thorn looks 'round, then nods firmly.
[OOC] WC GM: Malta's turn, then Lucrece's.
Lulim scowls, and perhaps looks more than a little angrier now. [Justified: +1 Atk CS; 45/[74]]
Malta looks at the milling swarm of gengars, and launches a fire blast into them!
Sam Spade rolled up 1d20+2 4d10+10+14: 3 (1) 53 (1 9 10 9) (AC 4, Smite)

[OOC] WC GM: Thank goodness for Smite, eh?
The blast passes through their ranks, singing a few even on its near miss.

[OOC] Esme: Free accuracy is free
[OOC] Max Thorn: ^
Sam Spade: "Alright, all of you! Malta, Lulim, Antheia, Lucrece! Stay focused, stay on top of this, we're all gonna kick their asses!" [Focused Training to the Group]
[OOC] Sam Spade: Gengars next, I assume?
The swarm lets loose a shadow ball at Malta!

It bounces off a few of the swarm, spinning them around but not driving them that far back.
[OOC] WC GM: Lulim, Malta, and Max!
Malta lobs a burning ember into the milling crowd of gengars! Ember!
Lulim let out another fearsome howl. If she's here, she's here until the end! Or at least until she's knocked out. [Swords Dance]
Sam Spade rolled up 1d20+4 2d6+8+14: 8 (4) 29 (5 2) (AC 2, burn on 18+)
Max Thorn mutters, then throws a [Potion] at Antheia.
One of the gengars swallows the ember, then flees back into the sea on its own, apparently trying to discorporate its mouth that is now breathing fire!
Another shadow ball comes forth, this one headed for Lucrece!
WC GM rolled up 1d20: 18 (18)

Linnea: "Enough of this! Mode change!"
Linnea strikes a pose, and in a dramatic flash of light, she becomes encased in magicked armor! [-2 AP, Enchanting Transformation]
The bubble ROILS.
Gem Jules: "What."
Gem Jules: "What. Did. You. DO?!?"
Linnea: "That's right!"
Gem Jules: "The ghosts. They recognize this power!"
Linnea: "I am so much more than you think I am, you know!"
Linnea: "Then they know they're about to get their asses kicked!"
Gem Jules: "I…can't…hold them…much longer…"
Esme cracks her knuckles. "Well, if League formalities are out of the way…" She rushes up to the gengars, light gathering in her bracelets. "…Let's see if this works!" She strikes out with her palm, letting loose a wave of pure force! [Arcane Fury]
Esme rolled up 1d20: 4 (4) (AC3)
The wave misses the swarm, but strikes the sea, agitating the bubble further.
Esme: "Boo!"
Linnea points a finger at the group of gengar, starting to build up power and - with a dramatic fingergun motion, a burst of light erupts forth! [Moonblast]
Linnea rolled up 1d20: 7 (7) (AC2)
Linnea rolled up 3d12+41: 59 (7 2 9)

[OOC] WC GM: Lucrece's turn!
Luc lets loose another psychic beam! [Psybeam]
Esme rolled up 1d20+2: 3 (1) (AC2)
This beam, too, hits only the sea.
[OOC] WC GM: Round 8. Sam's up!

WC GM rolled up 1d20: 17 (17)
[OOC] WC GM: Hits for 36 damage, no stats/resistances/weaknesses apply.

Max Thorn rolled up 1d20+1 3d8+33: 13 (12) 49 (5 4 7) (AC 2, Cone 2)
About half the remaining gengars are blown away!
[OOC] WC GM: Swarm level reduced to 1.
[OOC] Max Thorn: so how many do we have now?
[OOC] WC GM: Lulim!
[OOC] WC GM: 1 swarm level's worth, at just under half total HP.
Lulim dashes and darts throughout the crowd, clawing about indiscriminately! [Night Slash]
[OOC] Max Thorn: …how informative. :p
Linnea rolled up 1d20: 15 (15) (Crit on 13+)
[OOC] WC GM: Narratively: a half dozen.
[OOC] WC GM: CRIT!
Linnea rolled up 4d10+20+44: 92 (9 4 6 9) (Dark/Phys)
That knocks the rest away, as the far half of the bubble just collapses.
[OOC] Esme: Big number go blam blam
Gem Jules: "You don't…understand."
Gem Jules: "They recognize you. Their hatred…united."
Sam Spade: "Those are Jaeger ghosts, then?"
Gem Jules loads one last package into his launcher and aims at the party. "They see a common foe. Jaegers. Amodans."
Max Thorn: "Would explain the deathsea, honestly."
Linnea: "Lovely."
Esme notes the not-so-big-now-bubble.
Esme: "Should we, uhh…be moving?"
The gym leader fires. It is four badges - brown stone carved into a semblance of the redwood trees, with tiny gray stone tombstones for leaves, with no trace of epoxy or resin, just fitted together with intricate carving. Draped around the trees like prayer beads is a string of high-denomination coins, the string wrapped around each coin's midsection, totaling 12,000 pokeyen per badge.
Gem Jules: "They're…coming…for…you…"
With that, the bubble collapses over the gym and begins caving in toward the party.
Linnea recalls Lulim and starts booking it back toward the tunnel.
Sam Spade: "JULES!"
Esme grabs her bag and hustles. "Back down the hole it is!"
Max Thorn catches his badge and prize, then makes for the hole back out!
[OOC] WC GM: I think a significance multiplier of 5 can be justified, so +300 pokemon XP each - and, of course, +1 trainer level each.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Is he in the sea now?
[OOC] WC GM: The sea is between you and him; you did not actually see him touch the sea.
Tim calls from the far end of the tunnel, "This way! I had a better idea than the toilets!"
Linnea: "YOU HAD FRICKIN' BETTER!"
Sam Spade bolts. Unlike before, *now* she's *MAD*.
It takes a few minutes to traverse the tunnel, even running full tilt. By the time the party emerges into sunlight, the ghost sea has well and truly entered the tunnel in pursuit!
Linnea: "Bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger-"
Tim stands idly above the tunnel exit, Sands on his shoulders, two of the traps as soulshoes on his feet, a lazy smile on his face. "Up here! We're gonna…err, is something wrong?"
Esme: "Go go go!"
Sam Spade: "The sea has a problem with us personally!"
Sam Spade: "Also note the lack of a gym leader coming with us."
Sam Spade: "He'd better still be alive down there."
Tim: "…how did you tick off a sea? That's impressive, even for you."
Sam Spade huffs, both out of breath and indignantly
Max Thorn: "We just finished kicking the arses of 108 gengars."
Max Thorn: "That's how."
Linnea: "Also probably something to do with my magic."
Tim: "…well. If it's coming for you then that's even better. Just get your soulshoes on. When the sea comes out, jump on it. We'll ride the leading edge downhill!"
Linnea shrugs nonchalantly and dons the soulshoes.
Sam Spade blinks, dons soulshoes, and…blinks again.
Linnea: "I mean alright that's fairly WHAT?"
Max Thorn puts his soulshoes, just gives Tim a look.
Tim: "I realized. We're driving it to Sandbar Harbor anyway, right? So it'll be like a tauros drive - just, with ghosts."
Esme doesn't hesitate to put hers on.
Esme: "Not sure I really want to ride a soul wave for that long."
The ground rumbles. The glow of the sea is easily visible from the tunnel exit.
Max Thorn punches some buttons in his 'dex. A few seconds later, some jazz starts playing.
Tim: "It shouldn't take that long. Just a few hours, if we're riding all the way."
Esme: "I stand by my initial assessment!"
Tim: "Jump when it comes out! Ready…"
The sea erupts, like a sideways volcano!
[OOC] WC GM: Acrobatics, Athletics, or justify another skill to stick the timing.
Sam focuses on the exact timing. She knows her limits - but she knows her limits quite well.
[OOC] Sam Spade: Focus?
[OOC] WC GM: Sure.
Sam Spade rolled up 6d6: 26 (6 6 2 5 1 6) (Focus to stick the timing!)
[OOC] Linnea: Occult to find the least-rough patch to aim for? :P

Max Thorn rolled up 5d6: 23 (2 5 6 5 5)
With precision that an outside observer might mistake for coordinated timing, all of the party slam down on the sea, soulshoes all that keeps them from slipping inside. Between gravity and the sea pushing on to try to get to the party, they begin racing downhill!
The signposts of Route 27 call out ahead, way posts sensed in the back of the party's minds, making navigation easy even without looking.
Sam Spade: "THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA!"
Linnea: "Shh."
Max Thorn: "Are you kidding? This is, like, Jack-tier!"
Pokemon scatter from the path of the flood. A few of the redwood trees are in the way; the sea easily knocks them over and devours them, leaving no trace.
Linnea: "Egh… I don't like that…"
Sam Spade: "Yeah."
[OOC] WC GM: Another set of checks - same skills - to sustain position as the flood wears on.
Sam Spade rolled up 6d6: 21 (2 5 1 2 5 6) (staying focused while bitching)
Esme rolled up 4d6+1: 11 (1 2 1 6) (Don't Fall Down)
Max Thorn rolled up 5d6: 22 (6 6 6 3 1)
[OOC] Max Thorn: devilish.
Linnea rolled up 6d6: 25 (4 4 6 3 4 4) (Occult)
One of Esme's soulshoes burns through. Tim surfs over to her and offers one of the traps. "Here, use this! I've only got a few, though, and I'm already wearing two."
Esme very roughly balances on one leg long enough to quickly slip it on. "You better hope I make it through this, or you are SO HAUNTED."
Tim nearly wipes out handing the trap over, burning out one of his improvised soulshoes. He digs another out of supply and dons it. "You'll be fine. You're too awesome to fail! Ah…" He wobbles a bit. "…but we should call Sandbar Harbor Security, let them know we're on our way. I'd do it, but…" A bump in the ride sends him on a brief somersault, but he manages to land feet-first. Sands is now gripping tight, paws over Tim's eyes. "Sands, move your claws, I need to see!"
Sam Spade: "Max!"
Sam Spade glides over, looking like she's about to fall over at any given second, but still somehow retaining her balance.
Sam Spade: "Esme, I'm gonna hang on to you so we can stay upright, okay?"
Max Thorn nods, and sends a quick note.
Max's pokedex soon rings, denoting an incoming call.
Esme: "Whatever works!"
Max Thorn puts it on speakerphone.
Max Thorn: "Hello?"
Linnea: "Mind yourselves, got a lot of hazardous nonsense headed toward you!"
Security: "Are you SERIOUSLY pulling off Tim's plan?"
Max Thorn: "He didn't exactly give us a choice!"
Tim: "You said it was great!"
Security: "…what I said was, 'We are in the middle of a riot, and you want to bring a flood of ghosts in? That's just great.'"
Linnea: "Damn it, Tim!"
An explosion sounds on the other end. Far in the distance, a cloud of smoke rises from Sandbar Harbor.
Sam Spade lets a slow grin cover her face.
Sam Spade: "I think this is more my kind of fun."
Security: "Darn it, there goes the armor!"
Sam Spade: "Max! Tell them to tell the rioters the floors are about to be angry ghosts!"
Sam Spade frowns.
Sam Spade: "….Now I find myself curious about these 'rioters.'"
[OOC] WC GM: Does she say that loud enough for the security chief to hear?
[OOC] Sam Spade: The first part, yes. The second? It's probably loud enough for Esme to hear.)
Esme: "A good question…"
Tim: "Well, just ask - OW, Sands, that's my ear!"
Security: "Hey, how well can you steer that flood?"
Linnea: "Steer the flood?!"
Security: "Think you can aim it?"
Max Thorn: "Well, they kinda want /us/, so…we could give it a shot?"
Security: "Aim for the main street. We'll try to corral the rioters into your path."
Max Thorn: "…What the *beep* is wrong with you?!"
Security: "Come again?"
Max Thorn: "This flood will *kill* anything in its way!"
Security: "Right. And?"
Max Thorn: "Rioting is /not/ an acceptable reason to be killing people!"
Security: "Tell them that! We've lost five people already!"
Linnea: "We can't if we KILL THEM!"
Max Thorn pinches the bridge of his nose.
Esme: "…What's our current trajectory?"
Between general momentum, and the signposts subtly pulling (though resistable with effort), the party is currently headed for Sandbar Harbor, though it is too early to definitely tell where in town they will arrive.
Security: "Besides, they've refused to heal our leader! They keep insisting he's dead and beyond their powers!"
Sam Spade: "I thought he was going to the HQ?"
Security: "He's been all over the place while we've been trying to get some cooperation."
Security: "I'd like to see a mere corpse do THAT."
Sam Spade: "Yeah, that sounds like moth."
Max Thorn: "So what sparked the riot, anyway?"
The town begins to resolve into detail. There is indeed a main street, broad enough to channel most of the flood, leading straight through to shore. There are a few other streets to either side, a bit smaller but still providing straight-through paths.
Security: "One of the researchers managed to open the lab doors, and broke out all the other researchers."
Tim: "You mean it's a prison riot?"
Security: "They're 'researchers' and 'labs', not 'prisoners' and 'prisons'! We've been over this!"
Max Thorn mutes the mic real quick. "I'm thinking one of the side streets."
Linnea: "Right, go for that."
Max Thorn unmutes the mic. "So why were they locked up, again?"
Esme grumbles.
Security: "So they could focus on their work, of course."
Linnea perks up suddenly. "Hey, I got a lead! Just follow my directions, yeah?"
Linnea focuses a moment… and tries to shift her movement toward where she started hearing that familiar voice.
Max Thorn: "Yeah, being prevented from leaving totally made /me/ focus on my work…" The sarcasm is practically dripping.
It is indeed from down one of the side streets. Now that the party is a bit closer to town, it can be seen that this is the one the Jaegers are entrenched in.
Esme grips onto Sam, and starts guiding their way in Lin's direction. "They may want to move."
Linnea: "HEY! YOU JOKERS! MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!"
Security: "What…hey, why are you turning toward us…?"
Max Thorn angles his movement thataway too.
Linnea: "GET OUTTA THE WAY!"
Sam Spade: "WE'VE LOST CONTROL! RUNNNNNN!"
A building begins rising up out of the ocean at the end of the street…no, not a building, just a massive pokemon. A wailord - normal sized for a wailord.
Security: "Ack…FALL BACK! EVERYONE FALL BACK!"
The Jaegers abandon their position and retreat to the next street.
Linnea: "… we gotta jump… to the wailord?! Well… okay!"
Sam Spade: "Are you crazy? ….Well okay!"
Sam Spade braces for that perfect moment!
Linnea waits for it…
As the party enters town, they see signs of heavy urban warfare. Buildings pockmarked by shells and energy blasts - presumably psychic. On one side Jaegers with conventional weapons, on the other an army of psychics. And now, the city-wide battle suddenly interrupted by a flood of angry ghost energy flowing down the mountainside.
Sam Spade: "At first I thought you were crazy, Tim."
…some of the combatants are probably more weirded out than the party by this. Probably.
Sam Spade: "….Now? I know you're crazy, and I like it!"
The wailord looms ahead…
Max Thorn: "We're all crazy, though. Some more than others." He glances at Tim, then jumps onto the wailord.
[OOC] WC GM: Acrobatics, Athletics, or justify a skill for the jump. Occult and Survival do not work this time, though Focus would.
[OOC] Max Thorn: gonna go with Focus, then.
Sam Spade rolled up 6d6: 20 (4 3 3 3 2 5) (Focus, seizing that perfect moment.)
Max Thorn rolled up 2d6: 6 (4 2) (wheeeeeeeeeee)
Linnea focuses a moment, then takes a mighty leap! [-1 AP]
Linnea rolled up 4d6+1: 14 (4 3 2 4)
Esme rolled up 4d6+1: 21 (6 5 4 5) (JUMP)
Esme and Sam land perfectly. Linnea trips on the wailord's brow but makes it. Max smacks between the wailord's eyes and begins sliding down into the stream, which begins to rush into the wailord's mouth.
Linnea: "OI MAX!"
Sam Spade dives to try to catch Max!
Max Thorn scrabbles. Against blubber, it's kind of comical, or would be if the situation weren't so dire.
A skitty - orange, white, and black, as if fire-type-shifted - is up atop the wailord as well, looking on.
Esme dives to catch Sam who's diving to catch Max!
[OOC] WC GM: Esme & Sam: roll it.
Linnea grumbles and prepares the be the anchor of the human chain.
Max Thorn tosses a ball. "Antheia, get me up!"
[OOC] Sam Spade: Focus, or just acro/athletic?
[OOC] WC GM: Acro/athletics.
Sam Spade rolled up 2d6: 10 (5 5) (Athletics for the - welp)
Esme rolled up 4d6+1: 15 (5 5 2 2) (More Strong?)
Linnea rolled up 4d6: 19 (5 5 6 3) (Ath)
[OOC] Max Thorn: Antheia has Telekinetic, thanks to Psychic.
[OOC] WC GM: Roll Antheia's too. Lower difficulty since Telekinetic makes it easier.
Antheia rolled up 5d6+2: 21 (5 5 1 2 6) (Focus, due to Telekinetic)
Esme manages to at least prevent Sam from going overboard, as Antheia levitates Max to safety.
Max Thorn: "Whew."
Linnea: "…alright. You guys have this handled. I'm gonna take care of something."
The skitty lopes over to Linnea, then slowly around her.
Linnea looks down at the skitty, and… actually grins a bit. "Okay, so…"
Esme: "Hooph!"
Sam Spade collapses against the wailord.
Sam Spade: "Thank you, Esme…"
The skitty breathes in, and…that is the most melodious singing the party has ever heard a skitty do. Is it a skitty?
Linnea steps out one way, then another; executes a neat turn in place, arms out wide - she starts a little dance, no real form this time - just whatever comes to mind.
Esme pants. "No… problem!"
Sam Spade almost swears Linnea's favorite oath.
Every so often, as she spins, and steps, there's a shower of sparks - looks like someone likes showing off.
Max Thorn: "That's…interesting."
As Linnea moves, lines of magic shapes begin to cover the wailord. It was too large to immediately show damage from the ghost sea, but now it definitely looks healthy.
The skitty nods back and forth, then begins to dance with Linnea, bounding through where she just was.
Max Thorn: "I think my next move is going to be to have a look at Moth, now that I've invoked Shaymin's power once already. *Maybe* there's something I can work with…"
But she just goes with it, and there's a definite palpable tone of magic that starts building up in the air. She turns toward her friends, beckoning them to join in if they want.
Sam Spade does so, dancing with Linnea and the skitty that she thinks might be Melo.
Max Thorn: "I'd join you, but I'm afraid I'd be about as majestic as an eagle. Piloting a blimp."
Antheia, on the other hand, *does* join in the dance.
Linnea spins, and spins, and spins, laughing giddily. She's getting so involved in the dance that the threat of the ghost sea is but a dim thought in the back of her mind.
The added dancers accelerate the spread of the pattern. There is no question, this is now one enchanted wailord.
Esme is very tired… but probably should practice her runework. She hops up and joins in.
The dance lasts for several minutes, stretching onto most of an hour after that ride down (which lasted multiple hours, but seemed faster), as the former combatants look on - not that they have much of a choice, their mini-war thoroughly interrupted by giving legions of warriors their final rest.
